UFO finished-16 September 2010

This quilt was a UFO I started about 25 years ago. The center of blocks were silk screened prints, I bought them from the quilt shop in Crosby. I made the top and forgot about it. I found the top about a month ago when I was going through a box of fabric. I got it quilted and I'll be keeping here for our grandson Caleb to use when he's here. Below is a close up of the blocks and quilting. I've been hoping to get a UFO finished each week but, it just hasn't worked out.

split 9-patch UFO

This is the time of year that I don't get many UFO's finished.

I've been looking for this one for a while. I found it while I was looking for something else today. It was planned for a full sized bed, now it's going to be king sized. I should have enough fabric to make it work. I need 20 more blocks to finish the top. I'll probably put a border of the background fabric around the blocks. I'm planning to work on a UFO everyday through the summer!

This UFO was from Billie Lauder class sponsored by the Kingwood Quilt Guild. The fabric came from Front Porch Quilts in the greater Houston area.

Tuesday update

I had a couple of hours today that I did a lot of waiting. I got a lot of ripping done during that time.

current UFO

This is one of the current UFO's I'm working on. I'm seperating the flying geese units and reassembling them into a different looking block. I've packed this UFO into the container below it for a carry along project. The next time I have idle time, I can work on it.

current UFO's

I found another UFO in my drawer that I've started to work on. I still need to rip a lot of flying geese blocks but, I've been edge stitching the tote bags (2 UFO's-3 bags). I've gotten the strapping out for them. I should be able to finish them soon, if I can get some time to work on them. The weekends can be hectic here.

current UFO's

I'm currently working on 2 UFO's. One I found last week while looking for something else. I need to find the right fabric for the binding for this one. The other one has been interesting. I've sewn and ripped and changed my mind several times. I had the center finished and was planning to use the bonus blocks for a border. It wasn't working out. I have decided to leave the center as is for a lap quilt. I'm taking apart all the flying geese pieces and am rearranging them. I'm not sure what I will do with the blocks once they are finished.

4th UFO finished!

Good Morning Sunshine is DONE! It feels really good to have my 4th UFO done for the year! I quilted Caleb's name on the quilt 9 times.

These printed labels can be made very quickly. I frame them with leftover binding fabric and hand stitch them down.
